G2 Phase
The cell prepares for mitosis.
Haploid
Cells that have one of each chromosome.
Diploid
Cells that have a pair of each chromosome.
Chromosomes
DNA & protein clusters in a cell.
Cytokinesis
Process where the cytoplasm of the cell separates into two new cytoplasms.
Metaphase
2nd stage of mitosis where chromosomes line up in the middle.
Anaphase
3rd stage of mitosis where chromosomes split and move to either end of the cell.
Telophase
4th stage of mitosis where new nuclear membranes form around the chromosomes.
Binary Fission
Prokaryotic cell division that involves copying DNA and dividing the cell.
Deletion
A chromosomal mutation where a segment of chromosome is lost.
Duplication
A chromosomal mutation where a segment of chromosome is copied and added.
Mitotic Spindle
Proteins that allow chromosomes to move during anaphase.
Centrosome
Areas in the cytoplasm that form the mitotic spindle.
G1 Phase
Most of the growth and activity of the cell occurs.
S Phase
The cell copies its DNA.
Prophase
First stage of mitosis.
