Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)
A blood test that measures electrolytes, kidney function, and glucose.
What does a Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP) include?
Electrolytes, glucose, kidney function, liver function, and bilirubin.
Normal glucose range
70-100 mg/dL.
Critical hypoglycemia level
Less than 40 mg/dL.
Critical hyperglycemia level
Greater than 400 mg/dL.
Calcium normal range
8.4-10.2/8.5-10.5 mg/dL.
Critical hypocalcemia level
Less than 7 mg/dL.
Critical hypercalcemia level
Greater than 12 mg/dL.
Normal sodium range
135-145 mEq/L.
Critical hyponatremia level
Less than 120 mEq/L.
Critical hypernatremia level
Greater than 160 mEq/L.
Potassium normal range
3.5-5.3 mEq/L.
Critical hypokalemia level
Less than 2.5 mEq/L.
Critical hyperkalemia level
Greater than 6.2 mEq/L.
Normal Carbon Dioxide range
22-26 mEq/L.
Critical Chloride range
Less than 80 mEq/L or greater than 115 mEq/L.
Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) normal range
5-20 mg/dL.
Critical BUN level
Greater than 100 mg/dL.
Creatinine normal findings
0.6 – 1.2 mg/dL.
Complete Blood Count (CBC) includes
Red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets.
Normal white blood cell count (WBC)
4.5-11.
Critical platelets level
Less than 30,000 or greater than 1,000,000.
Prothrombin Time (PT) normal range
9-11.7 seconds.
International Normalized Ratio (INR) normal range
0.9-1.2.
Normal Troponin level
Less than 0.05, indicates no heart attack.
Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) normal level
Less than 100 pg/mL, indicates no congestive heart failure.
Normal Magnesium range
1.6-2.2 mg/dL.
Normal albumin levels
3.7-5.1 g/dL.
Normal cholesterol level
Less than 200 mg/dL.
Normal HDL level
Greater than 60 mg/dL.
Normal LDL level
Less than 100 mg/dL.
Normal triglycerides level
Less than 150 mg/dL.
Normal Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) range
0.4-4.2.
