USTRANSCOM Mission
conducts globally integrated mobility operations, leads the broader Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise, and provides enabling capabilities IOT to project and sustain the Joint Force in support of national objectives.
Responsible for integrating and synchronizing strategic and theater deployment execution and inter-theater distribution operations into each CCDR's AOR.
USARTRANS Mission
An operational-level Army force designated by SECARMY as the ASCC of USTRANSCOM and a major subordinate command of USAMC.
Performs single-port management functions necessary to support the strategic flow of the deploying forces' equipment and sustainment supply in the SPOE and hand-off to the CCDR in the SPOD.
AMC Mission
Transportation component of USTRANSCOM, provides common-user air mobility and A&E transportation services to deploy, employ, sustain, and redeploy US forces on a global basis.
MSC Mission
Provide common-user and exclusive-use sealift transportation services to include ocean transportation of equipment, fuel, supplies, and Army prepositioned stocks and ammunition to sustain US forces worldwide during peacetime and in war for as long as operational requirements dictate.
Transportation Brigade Expeditionary (TBX)
Responsible for JLOTS, typically attached to a TSC or ESC
(Doctrine mission: provide theater opening capabilities through mission command of assigned and attached port, terminal, watercraft, movement control, and mortuary affairs units conducting expeditionary intermodal operations in support of multidomain operations.)

Inland Cargo Transfer Company (ICTC)
Discharge, load and transship cargo at air, rail or truck terminals; supplement cargo/supply handling operations at combat service support activities in areas to alleviate cargo backlogs; operates cargo marshalling area as required. Performs as A/DACG.
Movement Control Battalion
controls the movement of all US forces, their equipment, material, and sustainment into, within, and out of its assigned AO. Principal organization with responsibility to coordinate and synchronize the execution of movement control to ensure effective and efficient movements.
Movement Control Team
21 personnel used to decentralize the execution of movement responsibilities on an area basis or at key transportation nodes. Provide movement control capability to augment a BCT or other DIV units as needed.

Seaport Operations Company
Perform seaport terminal service operations to discharge and load containerized breakbulk cargo and wheeled or tracked vehicles in permanent seaports or in LOTS operation sites.
Composite Watercraft Company
Provide C2, ops planning, and maintenance support for up to 16 Army watercraft detachments performing intra-theater lift, water terminal or harbor operations, waterborne tactical and joint amphibious, rivervine and LOTS operations.
Logistics Support Vessel (LSV)
Direct transport and discharge of liquid and dry cargo to shallow termina areas, remote under-developed coastlines and on inland waterways.

Medium Truck Company POL (7.5k)
Provides the Army with the motor transport (semitrailer) capability to move bulk fuel at echelons above brigade.
Medium Truck Company POL (5k)
Provide transportation for the movement of bulk petroleum products through the utilization of the tractor with associated semitrailer tanks. Primarily employed in the Joint Security Area and Corps Support Areas.
Medium Truck Company POL (5k Tactical)
Provide transportation for the movement of bulk petroleum products through the utilization of FMTV tractor with associated semitrailer tanks. Employed in both local and line haul operations and primarily in the corps or division AO.
Medium Truck Company
Provide transportation for the movement of containerized, non-containerized, palletized, bulk water products, and dry and refrigerated cargo.
PLS Truck Company (Medium)
Provide ground transportation for the movement of dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, and other breakbulk cargo, ammunition and bottled water on PLS flatracks.
Light-Medium Truck Company
Provide transportation support for the movement of bulk cargo, containers and personnel using the family of medium tactical vehicles which is comprised of the light-medium tactical vehicles and medium tactical vehicle.
HET Company
Port clearance, onward movement and tactical displacement of heavy maneuver forces. Also performs recovery and evacuation missions for equipment to higher levels for repair.
Composite Truck Company (Heavy)
Perform transportation and convoy security support to DSB. Provide transportation assets for the movement and distribution of dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, general non-containerized cargo, ammunition, bottled and bulk water. Also assists with unit and personnel moves.
Composite Truck Company (Light)
Designed to support light division. Provides transportation assets for the movement and distribution of dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, general non-containerized cargo, ammunition, bottled water, and bulk water (when equipped with tank racks/HIPPOs). Also assists with unit moves, transports personnel, and provides security escort for contracted trucks.

Theater Opening
The ability to establish and operate port of debarkation (air, sea, and rail), establish a distribution system and sustainment bases, and to facilitate port throughput for the RSO&I of forces within a theater of operations.
J/LOTS Purpose and Involved Units
Allows heavy forces to be moved from ship to shore when there are no modern deep-water ports available, such as on various smaller atolls or when ports are not available due to combat damage or volume of shipping.
Transportation Brigade Expeditionary (TBX) serves as the ARFOR component of any JTF for JLOTS operations is normally attached to a TSC or ESC.

Aerial Port of Debarkation - airfield designated for sustained air movement of personnel and materials and authorized port entrance/departure from the country

What airfield agencies are present on an APOD?
A/DACG (Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group) - Ad hoc organization established to control and support the arrival and departure of personnel, equipment, and sustainment cargo at airfields.
CRG (Contingency Response group) - Deployed AMC organization that provides on-site management of airfield operations.
RPOE (Army's Rapid Port Opening Element) - Deploy to facilitate and track the movement of personnel, supplies, and equipment through a designated aerial or seaport.
What is MOG?
Maximum On Ground - Refers to the maximum number of aircraft (A/C) that can be parked on an airfield.
Haul Types
1. Local Hauls: Shorter transportation movements that can occur multiples times a day. Usually intra-zonal movement in a BDE AO. Generally MTVs and LHS.
2. Line Hauls: Longer transportation movements that typically require operating shifts. Frequently inter-zonal, commonly crossing movement control boundaries and AORs. Generally tractor/trailer, HETs, and PLS.
Hauling Methods
1. Direct - single transport mission completed by the same vehicles. Does not involve transfer of supplies or exchange of equipment.
2. Shuttle - single transport mission completed in repeated trips by the same vehicles between two points.
3. Relay - single mission completed in one trip and utilizes multiple vehicles without transferring the load. Involves continuous movement of supplies or troops over successive segments. Done by changing drivers, vehicles, or both for each segment.
4. Hub and Spoke - Physical distribution system in which a major port serves as a central point from which cargo is moved to and from several radiating points to increase transportation efficiencies.

DIV Trans Planners
1. DIV G4 OIC - Principal staff officer for sustainment plans and operations, supply, maintenance, transportation, services, and OCS.
2. DIV Transportation Officer - Staff officer assigned in the sustainment cell of DIV HQ involved in the movement of units and maneuver elements in coordination with the DIV G3.
3. DSB SPO Trans - Supports DIV G4 by contributing to developing of the DIV movement plan. Coordinates the transportation requirements for supported units and synchronizes movements with MCTs. Manages common user-land transportation (CULT) assets allocated to the DSB.
BCT Trans Planners
1. BDE S4 - Senior logistics staff officer and advisor to the brigade commander on sustainment activities. Staff plans, coordinates and manages the brigade's deployment activities and maintains visibility of the brigade's transportation assets.
2. BDE Mobility Warrant Officer - Plans and coordinates BCT strategic and operational movement requirements to include BCT operational and tactical sustainment movement support requirements. Works closely with the BSB SPO, MCB and MCTs arranging convoys in support of BCT sustainment and heavy lift requirements.
3. BSB SPO Trans - Provides movement control support to the BCT to fulfill the BCT commander's distribution movement requirements. Oversee BSB transportation planning and distribution integration in support of the BCT.
Intermodal Operations
Processes of using multiple modes (air, sea, highway, rail) and conveyances (truck, barge, containers, pallets) to move troops, supplies, and equipment through expeditionary entry points and the network of specialized transportation nodes to sustain land forces.
