Eppendorf/Microfuge Tubes/Tubes
Used to hold samples and small amounts of reagents. Holds 1.5mL
Snap Caps
Cap allows air to get in, good for growing bacteria
Petri Dish
With agar (jellylike component comes from seaweed) these are used to grow bacterial cultures
Pipette (Serological Pipette)
Used to measure medium amounts of liquid
Microcentrifuge
Spins down tubes (just like a blood sample)
Power Supplies
Provide electrical current for gel electrophoresis
Pipette Tips
Attaches to micropipette to keep the pipette clean and samples uncontaminated, especially when dealing with DNA
Gel (Electrophoresis) Chambers
Used to hold gel and buffer for gel electrophoresis
Tape
Used to tape the sides of a gel chamber when pouring gels for electrophoresis
Gel Tray
Used to contain gel for electrophoresis
Gel Combs
Used to create depressions or wells in gel for electrophoresis (DNA that has been broken into smaller pieces with restriction enzymes is inserted into these wells)
Biohazard Bin
Used to dispose of anything science related (no paper towels!)
