First Paragraph
Toxic stereotypes have poisoned our mental health for far too long. These stereotypes like men crying and being emotional being viewed as lamentable has made men less likely to seek help with mental health or even discuss it with anybody.
Second Paragraph
This ridiculous, callous and heartless thought men have that has been riveted into their brain that we can’t talk to people about feelings has taken a massive toll on our mental health. 12.5% of all men in England have a mental health disorder. The population of England when this statistic was taken was 57.7 million people meaning that 7,212,500 men in England have a mental health disorder.
Third Paragraph
Charities and websites have been set up to help aid men. Mind and other already existing charities and organisations like the Mental Health Foundation have shifted more focus onto the matter and are putting more resources into helping people in need. Needs to be publicised further to help even more people step into the light about how they feel.
Fourth Paragraph
In 2023 the male suicide rate was 17.1 people per 100,000, compared to a female suicide rate of 5.6 per 100,000. Ask about people’s feelings.
Conclusion
If we can resolve this pressing issue then society as a whole can thrive and grow to support mental health for everyone. If we can resolve this pressing issue then men around the world can live better lives and hopefully even longer ones. It all starts with baby steps. What can you do to help friends, family and even strangers? I’ll leave you to think about that instead.
