Non-Proportional Relationship
A relationship is NON-PROPORTIONAL when the ratio of y over x is NOT constant.
Non-Proportional Graph
The line of a non-proportional graph will NOT pass through the origin.
Constant of Proportionality (k)
The ratio of the y-value to the x-value.
Proportional Relationship
A relationship is PROPORTIONAL when the ratio of y over x is CONSTANT.
Proportional Graph
The line of a proportional graph will pass through the ORIGIN, (0,0).
Rate of Change in a Proportional Relationship
In a PROPORTIONAL relationship, the rate of change is EQUAL to the constant of proportionality, k.
