Your muscles' ability to exert force repeatedly or for an extended period of time.
Muscular Strength
Your muscles' ability to exert a maximum amount of force in one effort.
Power
The ability to combine both speed and force in movements and actions.
Agility
The ability to quickly change direction without losing speed or power.
Balance
The ability to stabilize the body both in movement and when maintaining stillness.
Coordination
The ability to use your senses in combination with your actions when in movement.
Reaction Time
The ability to respond quickly to what you feel, see or hear.
Abduction
Movement away from the midline of the body.
Adduction
Movement toward the midline of the body.
Circumduction
Circular movement of a limb or eye.
Pronation
Rotation of the forearm so that the palm faces downwards.
Supination
Rotation of the forearm so that the palm faces upwards.
Inversion
Movement of the sole of the foot inward.
Eversion
Movement of the sole of the foot outward.

Backward flexion, as in bending backward a hand or foot.
Plantar Flexion
Flexion of the foot so as to point the toes.
Protraction
Movement of a body part forward.
Retraction
Movement of a body part backward.
Elevation
Movement in a superior direction.
Depression
Movement in an inferior direction.
Sagittal Plane
Divides the body into left and right sections.
Transverse Plane
Divides the body into upper and lower sections.
Frontal Plane
Divides the body into front and back sections.
Isometric Contraction
Muscle contracts but does not shorten; no movement.
Concentric Contraction
Muscle shortens during contraction; movement.
Eccentric Contraction
Muscle lengthens during contraction; movement.
Muscular Strength
The ability of muscle to exert force.
Muscular Endurance
The ability of muscle to continue to perform without fatigue.
Power
The product of force and velocity, represents work a muscle can produce per unit of time.
1 Repetition Max (1 RM)
The maximum force output of a given muscle group.
Hand Grip Dynamometry
A cheap, fast, and effective way at estimating total body strength.
YMCA Push-up Test
A test of muscular endurance where the number of correct push-ups are recorded.
Neuromotor Fitness
Includes balance, coordination, agility, gait, proprioception, and flexibility.
Static Balance
The ability to maintain posture while standing still.
Dynamic Balance
The ability to maintain balance while in motion.
