Intellectual Property (IP)
Refers to the creations of the mind such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce.
Copyright
Describes the rights of creators over literary and artistic works such as books, music, films, and software; covers the form of material expression, not the idea itself.
Patents
Rights granted for inventions that give the inventor exclusive rights to use, sell, and produce the invention for a certain period of time.
Trademarks
Symbols, names, and slogans used to identify and distinguish goods or services from others in the marketplace.
Trade Secrets
Confidential business information providing a competitive advantage, which is actively protected and not public information.
Owner's Rights
Exclusive rights of a copyright owner to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute, perform, and display the work publicly.
Industrial Design
Protection for the aesthetic aspect of a product, such as its shape, configuration, pattern, or ornamentation that gives it a unique appearance.
