What is atonement?
The process by which men and women are reconciled with God through the death of Jesus on the cross.

In this model, the death of Jesus is seen as a necessary sacrifice to pay for the sins of humanity, or a form of ransom, and it emphasizes Christ's victory over the forces of evil.
