Gender identity

How a person identifies their gender internally (male, female, non-binary).

Coming out

When someone shares their sexual orientation or gender identity with others

Gender expression

The way a person expresses their gender through clothing, behavior, or appearance.

Misgendering

Using incorrect pronouns or terms for someone's gender identity.

Gender norms

societal expectations about how individuals should behave, dress, and interact based on their perceived gender.

Deadname

A former name of a transgender person, which they no longer use.

Homophobia, Transphobia

Prejudice toward people who are gay, lesbian or transgender.

Cisgender

A person whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth.
