Tibial Collateral Ligament
A ligament located on the medial side of the knee joint.
Fibular Collateral Ligament (LCL)
A ligament located on the lateral side of the knee joint.
Quadriceps Femoris Tendon
The tendon connecting the quadriceps femoris muscle to the patella, part of the knee joint.
Patellar Ligament
A strong, flat ligament extending from the patella to the tibial tuberosity, part of the knee joint.
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
An important ligament located under the patella, within the knee joint, preventing anterior displacement of the tibia.
Medial Meniscus
A C-shaped piece of cartilage within the knee joint, located on the medial side.
Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)
An important ligament within the knee joint, preventing posterior displacement of the tibia.
Lateral Meniscus
A C-shaped piece of cartilage within the knee joint, located on the lateral side.
Popliteal Ligaments
Ligaments located on the posterior aspect of the knee joint.
Temporomandibular Ligament
A key ligament supporting the temporomandibular joint.
Sphenomandibular Ligament
A ligament that connects the sphenoid bone to the mandible, associated with the temporomandibular joint.
Stylomandibular Ligament
A ligament that connects the styloid process to the mandible, associated with the temporomandibular joint.
Sternoclavicular Joint
The joint connecting the sternum and the clavicle, supported by specific ligaments.
Costoclavicular Ligament
A ligament connecting the first rib (costa) to the clavicle, associated with the sternoclavicular joint.
Sternoclavicular Ligament
A ligament directly reinforcing the sternoclavicular joint.
Elbow Joint
The joint connecting the humerus, radius, and ulna, supported by collateral and annular ligaments.
Radial Collateral Ligament
A ligament on the lateral side of the elbow joint, connecting the humerus to the radius.
Annular Ligament
A ligament that encircles the head of the radius, holding it against the ulna at the elbow joint.
Ulnar Collateral Ligament
A ligament on the medial side of the elbow joint, connecting the humerus to the ulna.
Ischiofemoral Ligament
A ligament of the hip joint that originates from the ischium.
Iliofemoral Ligament
A strong anterior ligament of the hip joint that originates from the ilium.
Pubofemoral Ligament
A ligament of the hip joint that originates from the pubis.
Ligament of Head of Femur
A ligament within the hip joint that connects the head of the femur to the acetabulum.
Nucleus Pulposus
The gelatinous inner core of an intervertebral disc.
Annulus Fibrosus
The tough, fibrous outer ring of an intervertebral disc, surrounding the nucleus pulposus.
Intervertebral Disc
A fibrocartilaginous cushion located between vertebrae, consisting of an annulus fibrosus and a nucleus pulposus.
Posterior Longitudinal Ligament
A ligament running along the posterior aspect of the vertebral bodies within the spinal canal.
Interspinous Ligament
Ligaments connecting the spinous processes of adjacent vertebrae.
Supraspinous Ligament
A strong ligament running along the tips of the spinous processes from the seventh cervical vertebra to the sacrum.
Ligamentum Flavum
Ligaments connecting the laminae of adjacent vertebrae, composed primarily of elastic tissue.
Anterior Longitudinal Ligament
A broad, strong ligament running along the anterior aspect of the vertebral bodies.
Coracoacromial Ligament
A ligament connecting the coracoid process to the acromion, part of the shoulder joint complex.
Subacromial Bursa
A fluid-filled sac located beneath the acromion, reducing friction in the shoulder joint.
Acromioclavicular Ligament
A ligament reinforcing the joint between the acromion and the clavicle.
Subdeltoid Bursa
A fluid-filled sac located beneath the deltoid muscle, reducing friction in the shoulder joint.
Coracoclavicular Ligament
A strong ligament connecting the coracoid process of the scapula to the clavicle, important for shoulder stability.
Glenohumeral Ligaments
Ligaments that reinforce the glenohumeral joint capsule, located anteriorly.
