THR, THA, TKR, TKA, Hemiarthroplasty
THR- total hip replacement
THA- total hip arthroplasty
TKR- total knee replacement
TKA- total knee arthroplasty
Hemiarthroplasty- replacement of only the femoral or humeral head
standard precautions for THA & Hemiarthroplasty
posterior precautions:
no hip flexion > 90degrees
no IR
no adduction past midline
anterior precautions:
no ER
no adduction past midline
no extension
restrictions: LE weight bearing THA/TKA
cemented joint replacements: weight bear as tolerated unless operative procedure involved a soft-tissue repair or internal fixation of bone
cementless, or ingrowth, joint replacements: partial weight bearing or toe-touch weight bearing
