Pharyngoscope
Special Tool used to examine larynx and pharynx
ET Tube
A medical device inserted into the trachea to maintain an open airway and facilitate ventilation.
Epiglottis
Cartilage that covers the trachea during swallowing, preventing food and liquid from entering the airway.
Diaphram
Bottom of Lungs
Mediastinum
Compartment in thoracic cavity, contains heart, great vessels, and trachea.
Trachea
Connects Larynx to Bronchi, allows air to pass to and from lungs.
Pleura
Membrane surrounding lungs, facilitates movement during lung respiration.
Nares
Nostrils, openings carrying air.
Pneumothorax
Presence of air in pleural cavity, leads to lung collapse.
What happens if Pleural was punctured?
Leads to collapsed lung.
Bronchus vs Bronchi
Bronchus refers to either of the two main air passages that diverge from the trachea and lead to the lungs, while bronchi is the plural form, encompassing both main passages and their branches within the lungs.
Pleural Cavity
The space between the pleura surrounding each lung, filled with pleural fluid to reduce friction during breathing.
Auslicate
to listen to internal sounds of the body using a stethoscope.
Strider
Airway obstruction.
Atelectasis
Collapse of alveoli / Alvear Collapse
After Pulimary Surgery, what should be encouraged?
Deep Breaths, helps prevent pneumonia.
TCB?
Turn, cough, breath. Used to encourage pulmonary movement.
Pneumothorax
Collapsed Lung
Pulminary Embolism (PE)
Thombosis in Lung.
Bronchoscopy
Visualization of Bronchial Tubes using endoscope
Endotrachealscopy
Procedure to visualize the trachea and airways using an endoscope.
Thoracentisis
Procedure to remove fluid or air from the pleural space using a needle or catheter.
Pneumonectomy
Surgical removal of a lung, typically to treat lung cancer or severe lung disease.
Pericentisis
Procedure to remove fluid from the peritoneal cavity.
What involves the Percentisis proceudure?
Catheter inserted into pleural cavity, thanks to the help of ultrasound. Fluid is drained into bag. Patient sites in crouched position, and breaths deeply.
OSA
Obstructive sleep apnea. Caused by tongue & muscle relaxation. Leads to momentary losses of breathing.
SOB
Shortness of breath.
