means “some / any.”

ningún / ninguno(a)

means “no / not any / none.”

algunos / algunas

plural form of alguno/a; means “some” or “a few.”

poco / poca

means “little, not much” (singular).

pocos / pocas

means “few, not many” (plural).

mucho / mucha

means “a lot, much” (singular).

muchos / muchas

means “many, a lot (of)” (plural).

todo / toda

means “all, the whole” (singular).

todos / todas

means “all, every, everyone” (plural).

demasiado / demasiada

means “too much” (singular).

demasiados / demasiadas

means “too many” (plural).

Rule: no/tampoco + ningún/ninguno(a)

When ningún, ninguno or ninguna follows the verb, begin the sentence with no or tampoco. Example: “No hay ningún yogur.”

Rule: algún / ningún before masculine singular nouns

Before a masculine singular noun, alguno and ninguno shorten to algún and ningún. Example: “¿Hay algún huevo?”

Rule: poco, mucho, demasiado as adverbs

When poco, mucho or demasiado modifies an adjective or adverb, it stays invariable (does not change for gender/number). Example: “Las papas están demasiado saladas.”
