How do Conservatives choose party leaders?
Through Conservative party elections which consist of two stages. The Conservative MPs choose two candidates to put forward to stage 2. Party members are then balloted and the candidate with the most votes wins.
How does the Conservative party choose Parliamentary Candidates?
A local selection committee forms a long list which national selection committee members present. The executive council of the local Conservative association forms a shortlist. Local party members vote for the final candidate at a special general meeting.
How do the Conservatives establish party policy?
A Conservative Party forum is held to discuss the structure policy of the Conservative party.

How does Labour choose a party leader?
candidates will need 22 nominations.
To make it onto the final ballot candidates must receive nominations from 5% of constituency parties or at least three affiliates.
Members vote using the AV (Alternative vote) system- where voters write 1 next to their favourite, 2 next to their second and so on. The numbers are guidance for where the vote should go if no candidate gets half the vote .
How does Labour establish party policy?
Policies developed through the National Policy Forum (NPF).
NPF representatives examine specific policy areas; each of the six party commissions is co-consented by a shadow secretary of state and an NEC member.
These commissions consider the policy submissions and develop detailed positions which are then discussed at Annual Conference.
How does the Labour party choose a parliamentary candidate?
Any party member can apply if they have had continuous membership for at least a year and they are part of the trade unions.
