What is the pluperfect tense used for?

To say what HAD happened in the past

(eg, when we HAD finished....)

How do you form the pluperfect tense?

Imperfect tense part of avoir/être (auxillery verb)

Nous nous étions lévés

I had reserved/I had left

J'avais réservé

For verbs with etre, the past participle....

Must agree with the subject (eg nous étions partiS)

Write out avoir in the imperfect tense
