What is Pop art?

An art movement that emerged in Britain in the 1950’s, gained traction and became popular in the 1960’s in the U.S, and declined in the 1970’s because of traditional fine art. It is characterized by its use of imagery from popular culture, like advertising, comic books, and consumer goods. Its bright colors and bold graphics, challenged traditional fine art, and blurred high and low-culture.
