Far rights for everyone and giving them rights they didn’t have in England.

Lots of farming and helped people who didn't have anywhere to go find a place to live.

Who was Roger Williams?

The founder of Rhode Island.

What were Roger Williams’ beliefs about religion and the Native Americans?

Didn’t have to be any religion, and the government should not interfere with religion. Also, thought England had the right to the Native Americans land without purchase.

What is social mobility?

The ability to move social class.

Why was social mobility important in the colonies?

Because the lower class had an equal opportunity to get rich; an opportunity they didn’t have in England.

What is mercantilism?

The idea that trade creates wealth, and colonies exist to generate wealth for the country that owns them.

What was the economy of New England based on?

Harvest raw materials and either turn them into expensive products or ship them to other countries to make England rich.

What was the economy of the Middle Colonies based on?

Grew a lot of food that you can eat.

What was the economy of the Southern Colonies based on?

Grew a lot of cash crops, had a lot of slaves and traded to become rich.

Who was at the top and bottom of the social hierarchy of the south?

The top of the social hierarchy was the wealthy planters and on the bottom was the slaves.

What was Triangular Trade?

A system where materials, slaves and products were traded between England, New England and Africa.
