Define what a gorge is

Narrow steep sided valley that is found immediately downstream from a waterfall

What are the steps for the for action of a gorge

1. River flows over a band of hard rock sitting on a layer of soft rock

2. Soft rock is eroded more - creating step in river

3. SR erodes more , and then steep drop created (waterfall)

4. Hard rock undercut and collapses

5. Rocks swirl around foot of waterfall creating deep plunge pool

6. Waterfall retreats leaving steep sided gorge
