the Whites: loose group of people who disliked the Bolsheviks, including former monarchists, military leaders, foreign powers, socialists (Mensheviks), and others who wanted a democracy or to return to monarchy.
very brutal war, won by the Reds in 1922. SU was formed under communist rule. Whites lost because they didn’t have strong leadership or clear goals, while the Reds were united under Lenin.
