Mulitistate Nation

a nation spread across multiple states(arabs, koreans)

Stateless Nation

a nation without a reconized independent state

(kurds, palestine, Rohingas)

Sovereignty

the authority of a state to govern itself without outside interference(us domestic law, china asserts control over tibet)

A nation is based on cultural identity while a state is a political entity with borders in sovereignty

Most modern states are multinational due to migration, conquest, and colonialism

Nation states are rare because borders rarely aligned perfectly with a cultural group

Colonial borders are a major reason for modern ethnic conflicts

Language religion in shared history are key markers of national identity

National identity does not require sovereignty

Some Nations actively seek Independence While others seek autonomy

State may suppress or promote National identities for stability
