Routing Information Protocol Next Generation (RIPng)
A distance-vector routing protocol for IPv6 networks that uses hop count as its metric to exchange routing tables between routers.
The difference is that with Routing Information Protocol Next Generation (RIPng) , the router keeps track of this next-hop address using the link-local address, not a global address.
What differentiates Routing Information Protocol Next Generation (RIPng)?
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol for IPv6 (EIGRPv6)
An advanced distance-vector protocol that has some link-state features. The neighbor-discovery process using Hellos still happens, and it still provides reliable communication with a reliable transport protocol that gives us loop-free fast convergence using DUAL.
Open Shortest Path First version 3 (OSPFv3)
The routing protocol for IPv6, similar in concept to the other version for IPv4 but with key differences like handling IPv6 addresses and a more flexible configuration. Key features include support for multiple address families (IPv4 and IPv6) on a single interface, a separate link-state database for IPv6, and a simpler configuration process that starts at the interface level rather than the global routing process level.
