What are the 8 Principle of Art?
Balance, Proportion, Emphasis & Contrast, Unity & Variety, Harmony, Movement, Rhythm, and Repetition & Pattern
Distribution of the visual elements in view of their placement in relation to each other. A feeling of equality in weight, attention, or attraction of the various visual elements within the pictorial field as a means of accomplishing organic unity.
Balance
What are Three Forms of Balance?
Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, and Radial
A form of balance that the elements used on one side are reflected to the other.
Symmetrical
A form of balance though visual weight is distributed, one-half of the composition does not mirror the other
Asymmetrical
A form of balance that all parts of the composition radiate outward from a focal point
Radial
A principle of art that compare of dimensions or distribution of forms. It is the relationship in scale between one element and another, or between a whole object and one of its parts.

A proportion that relates to the realistic size of the visual elements in the artwork, especially in figurative artworks.
Natural
A proportion that refers to the unusual size relations of visual elements, deliberately exaggerating the immensity or minuteness of an object
Exaggerated
A proportion that most common to those that follow canons of perfection, the size-relations of elements or objects, which achieve the most ideal size-relations
Idealized
It is a Principle of Art that allows the attention of the viewer to a focal point(s), accentuating or drawing attention to these elements or objects
Emphasis
It is a Principle of Art that refers to the disparity between the elements that figure into the composition
Contrast
It is a Principle of Art that refers to the coherence of the artwork or it makes the elements stick together
Unity
It is a Principle of Art that aims to retain the interest by allowing patches or areas that both excite and allow the eye to rest
Variety
It is a Principle of Art that is related to unity and variety, in which the elements achieve a sense of flow and interconnectedness
Harmony
It is a Principle of Art that is directed of the viewing eye as it goes through the artwork, often guided by areas or elements that are emphasized. Focal points can be lines, edges, shape, and color within the work of art, among others.
Movement
It is a Principle of Art that refers to the recurring motifs and designs separated by intervals, creating implied movement.
Rhythm

Regular, Alternating, Eccentric, and Progressive

It is a Principle of Art that refers to the recurring manner of lines, shapes, colors, and other elements. It gives a sense of predictability, which in turn imbues the feelings of security and calmness
