Criminal Law Legal Action

Battery
A tort involving intentional, direct, and harmful or offensive physical contact with another person without their consent. It protects an individual's right to physical autonomy and security.
Assault
A tort that occurs when a person intentionally creates a reasonable apprehension of immediate harmful or offensive contact in another person. It focuses on the fear or anticipation of battery, not necessarily physical contact.
False Imprisonment
A tort defined as the unlawful restriction of a person's freedom of movement without their consent or legal justification. It involves intentional confinement that prevents someone from leaving a specific area.
IRAC Method
A structured method used in legal analysis to address problem questions by systematically identifying the legal issue, stating the relevant rule of law, applying the rule to the facts, and drawing a logical conclusion.
