Licentiousness; apathy. Opposite of legalism...apathetic toward obedience.

Jesus is greater than the angels and prophets. Jesus is different than them...Son's role in creation. Imprint of his character.
Why does he bring up Jesus's divinity in the first four verses of Hebrews?
Warning about how much more we should listen to his message. Prophets and angels have spoken, now God has spoken through son. Gives weight to speaking.
Why does the author bring up angels in the first chapter of Hebrews?
Lesser to greater argument. If angels message (about Mosaic covenant) proved faithful...how much more should we listen to the Son?

It is referring to believers and apostacy. Differentiate from loss of salvation view. Every true believer will heed the warning and hold onto gospel.

Naturally reads the text. Theological justice to rest of canon. Downside is it feels artificial, or a fix. Ultimately that issue doesn't overturn the truth of it

It's repetitive not linear. Adds on layers of meaning

Protodocetism. Christ is not actually human.

Platonism view that material world was bad

Sin ultimately causes doubt. Struggle with sin will cause you to doubt. Victory over sin causes assurance
Why doesn't 1 John teach Christian Perfectionism?
"If anyone claims to be without sin they lie." We're all sinners, believers included
Why is it important that we recognize that the gospel is not merely helpful, but true?
Its usefulness eventually will run out. Assurance means you are convinced that God's Word is true. Be completely convinced in your heart.

Reminds that Jesus paid for it.

It inclines us to read Revelation symbolically. Not taking it as any other book. It requires a different mode of reading.

The numbers/things/places indirectly refer to something else. It symbolizes because it makes mundane things be recognized as weighty things

The beast will war against the Lamb, the Lamb will be victorious, so hold on.
How does the beast wage war against the lamb and his people in Revelation?
Tempt them. Tempt through sex and money. (The subtlety of it)
Why does Revelation focus on God's sovereignty?
To comfort us. The beast is raging, but we are allowed to do what God allows us to do.
Why does the millennium probably describe the reign of Christ after his second coming?
