64 - 75

ad quem tum Luno supplex his vocibus usa est:

Towards him then, Juno, as a suppliant, used these words:

“Aeole, namque tibi divum pater atque hominum rex

“Aeolus, for to you the father of Gods and the king of men

et mulcere dedit fluctus et tollere vento,

gave [the power] both to soothe the waves and to raise up the wind,

gens inimica mihi Tyrrhenum navigat aequor

a nation hateful to me sails the Tyrrhenian sea

ilium in Italiam portans victosque Penates:

carrying Ilium and their conquered Penates to Italy:

incute vim ventis submersasque obrue puppes,

strike force with your winds and overwhelm their submerged,

aut age diversos et dissice corpora ponto.

or drive the turned away men and scatter their bodies upon the ocean.

sunt mihi bis septem praestanti corpore Nymphae,

I have fourteen Nymphs with outstanding bodies,

quarum quae forma pulcherrima Deiopea,

of whom Deiopea, who is the most beautiful in form.

conubio iungam stabili propriamque dicabo,

I will join in firm marriage and proclaim your own,

omnes ut tecum meritis pro talibus annos

so, that she may pass with you her years in return

exigat et pulchra faciat te prole parentem

for such deserved actions and she will make you a parent of beautiful offspring.
