Matter

It is anything that takes up space or volume (oxygen is made of matter)

Solid

Has mass – Has fixed volume – Cannot flow – Cannot be compressed

Liquid

Has mass – Has fixed volume – Can flow – Cannot be compressed

Gas

Has mass - Can flow – No fixed volume – Can flow

When heating up

Particles spread apart e.g. melting, evaporation, and sublimation

When cooling down

Particles press together e.g. freezing, condensation, and deposition
