Return Address
The writer’s address placed at the top of the letter.
Inside Address
The recipient's name and address to whom the letter is being sent.
Salutation
A greeting at the beginning of the letter, such as 'Dear Mr. Jones'.
Body
The section of the letter that contains the main message.
Complimentary Close
A polite ending to the letter, such as 'Sincerely yours'.
Enclosure Notation
A note indicating that additional documents are included with the letter.
Copy Notation
Identifies other recipients who will receive a copy of the letter.
Mixed Punctuation
Style where a colon follows the salutation and a comma follows the complimentary close.
Open Punctuation
Style with no punctuation after the salutation or the complimentary close.
Block Style Letter
A letter format where each part is left aligned and has specific margin sizes.
Modified Block Letter
A letter format in which the date and complimentary close are indented.
Body Spacing
The type of spacing used between paragraphs in a letter, such as single or double spacing.
Normal Punctuation
Style where a comma follows both the salutation and the complimentary close.
Margin Sizes
Top margin of 2 inches, side margins of 1 inch, and bottom margin of 1 inch in a Block Style Letter.
