The New Covenant
God's final agreement with humanity, established in the New Testament through Mary's acceptance to bear Jesus Christ.
Messiah
Translates to the anointed one and means a savior or leader.
Faith Sources
Books written by believers, prompted by the Holy Spirit, to share God's work. Example: The New Testament.
Historical Sources
Non-Biblical sources confirming Jesus' existence as a historical figure, written by historians around the time of Jesus.
Gospels
Meaning good news; describe the life and work of Jesus. However, they are not biographies. They are testimonies of faith- the experiences of his followers
First Stage of Gospel Development
The disciples experience of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
Second Stage of Gospel Development
The disciples and early church spread the Good News throughout the Roman Empire.
Third Stage of Gospel Development
Gospels are written down by Evangelists.
Fourth Stage of Gospel Development
Many books about Jesus and the early Church were written. The Church had to decide on which books to include in the official canon (sacred scripture).
