along the bottom, the “wedge” moves upstream on
high tide and seaward on low tide.
Well-mixed: strong wind-driven or tidal mixing.
Partially Mixed-intermediate flow of freshwater at surface and intermediate flow of seawater at depth.
Fjord-type:narrow, deep and steep walled
inlet with moderate river input and little tidal mixing
