Cation
A positively charged ion.
Anion
A negatively charged ion.
Metal Charges
Some metals can have more than one charge, especially group B metals.
Non-metal Charges
Most non-metals typically have one charge, except for hydrogen which can have different charges.
Lithium (Li+)
A cation with a +1 charge.
Sodium (Na+)
A cation with a +1 charge.
Potassium (K+)
A cation with a +1 charge.
Aluminum (Al3+)
A cation with a +3 charge.
Zinc (Zn2+)
A cation with a +2 charge.
Fluoride (F-)
An anion with a -1 charge.
Sulfide (S2-)
An anion with a -2 charge.
Oxide (O2-)
An anion with a -2 charge.

An ion composed of two or more atoms.
Sulfate
A polyatomic ion with the formula SO4 2-.
Nitrate
A polyatomic ion with the formula NO3-.
Phosphate
A polyatomic ion with the formula PO4 3-.
Hydroxide
A polyatomic ion with the formula OH-.
Ammonium (NH4+)
A cation with a +1 charge.
Copper (Cu)
A metal that can have a +1 or +2 charge.
Iron (Fe)
A metal that can have charges of +2, +3, +4, or +6.
