Five Pillars of Islam
The five basic acts in Islam: Declaration of Faith (Shahada), Prayer (Salat), Almsgiving (Zakat), Fasting (Sawm), and Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj).
Shahada
The declaration of faith in Islam, stating that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His prophet.
Salat
The ritual prayer performed five times a day in Islam.
Zakat
The practice of almsgiving or charity, typically 2.5% of an individual's wealth given to those in need.
Sawm
The practice of fasting during the month of Ramadan in Islam.
Hajj
The pilgrimage to Mecca that every Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime.
Monotheistic
Believing in the existence of one God, a characteristic shared by Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.
Islamic Art
Art that avoids depictions of God and Muhammad, instead focusing on geometric and calligraphic designs.
