Schizophrenia
A disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and/or diminished inappropriate emotional expression.
Psychotic disorders
Group disorders marked by irrational ideas, distorted perceptions, and a loss of contact with reality.
Delusion
A false belief, often of persecution or grandeur, that may accompany psychotic disorders.
Chronic schizophrenia
A form of schizophrenia in which symptoms usually appear by late adolescence or early adulthood, with late psychotic episodes lasting longer and recovery periods shortening.
Acute schizophrenia
A form of schizophrenia that can begin at any age, often in response to a traumatic event, and from which recovery is more likely.
Catatonia
A state of unresponsiveness to the environment, sometimes holding rigid poses for extended periods.

Positive symptom
Adding something to the experience, such as hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized speech.
Negative symptom
Reduction in normal behavior, like neglect of personal care, withdrawal, or lack of emotion.
Disorganized symptoms
Jumbles of thoughts or speech, leading to incoherent communication.
