EDC - emerging and developing countries
nations that have not yet established fully developed financial systems, but are not eligible for the poverty reduction and growth trust
LIDC - low income developing countries
countries that do not have well-established financial markets and are eligible for the poverty reduction and growth trust
AC - advanced countries
nations that are economically developed, with established and diverse financial markets, integration in global trade systems and growing service sectors
political stability
a government system that receives little disabling disruption from citizens; can be a totalitarian system or a democracy
political instability
a government system that is at risk of being overturned through civil unrest, political coups or a revolution
trade negotiations
discussions over the terms of exchange of products between countries
international division of labour
the concept of moving low-skilled work to developing countries and carrying out more skilled roles in developed countries
capital
monetary wealth or other assets that can be spent or invested in a business, helping to improve the economy
trade agreement
an arrangement between countries relating to the exchange of goods and services
inequalities
substantial and often disabling differences in wealth, opportunities, education, health, etc
conflict
a significant disagreement or argument that can often result in conflict
injustice
violation o discrimination of the rights of an individual, group or community
HDI - human development index
a measurement that assesses countries based on economic and social criteria, including GDP per capita, life expectancy and literacy rates
unequal power relations
some countries may have the capacity to control or heavily influence the actions of another country, which has little or no capacity itself
trade embargo
a partial or complete ban on exchange of goods with a particular country
