What are proportions?
Equations that state two ratios are equal.
When are two ratios proportional?
When they are equivalent to each other.
How can you keep a ratio proportional?
Multiply or divide the numerator and denominator by the same number.
Example: Multiply numerator and denominator of 4/9 by 3
Equivalent fraction = 12/27.
Why are 4/9 and 12/27 proportional?
Because both numerator and denominator changed at the same rate.
