Cranial Nerve I(Olfactory)
is the nerve for sense of smell. It originates from the neurons of the olfactory epithelium in the roof of the nasal cavity.(sensory cranial nerve)
Cranial Nerve II(Optic)
It is the nerve for vision.It arises from neurons in the posterior eye.(sensory cranial nerve)
Cranial Nerve VIII(Vestibulocochlear)
It detects the position of the body and detects sound waves.(sensory cranial nerve)
Cranial Nerve III(oculomotor)
innervates 4 of the 6 extrinsic eye muscles and the lavatory palpebrae superiors muscle
Cranial Nerve IV(Trochlear)
Innervates 1 of 6 extrinsic eye muscles(motor)T
Cranial Nerve VI(Abducens)
Innervates 1 of 6 extrinsic eye muscles(motor)A
Cranial Nerve XI(accessory)
Innervates certain muscles of the larynx and the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles.(motor)
Cranial Nerve XII(hypoglossal)
innervates the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the tongue(motor)
Cranial nerve V(trigeminal)
supplies much of the skin of the face and the muscles of mastication(mixed)
Cranial nerve VII(facial)
innervates the muscles of facial expression; trigger secretion from the lacrimal
Cranial nerve IX(glossopharyngeal)
provides taste sensation; somatic sensation; detects changes in blood pressure; supplies muscles involved in swallowing; and triggers secretions from certain salivary glands.(mixed)
Cranial nerve X(vagus)
provides somatic and visceral sensation; provides tases sensation to the pharynx; detects the carbon dioxide concentration in the blood; and supplies the muscles of swallowing. It supplies the parasympathetic innervation to most of the thoracic and abdominal viscera. (mixed)
