Why would we want to use EQ?
To remove (cut) unwanted frequencies.
To increase (boost) wanted frequencies.
To change the tonal balance of sound.
For a creative effect.
What is graphic EQ?
Graphic EQs can achieve the same outcome as parametric. However, they work in a different way. They are split into set bands.
This would allow us to change the balance of these three frequency bands to change the tone of an audio file.
This type of EQ is most commonly found in car stereo systems.
What is the benefit of an 8-band EQ?
This allows for far greater control when recording and mixing a piece of music.
What are the advantages of graphic EQ?
Set bands are most common require frequencies.
Faster workflow as there is less choice.
Easier to use.
What are the disadvantages of graphic EQ?
Set frequency bands may not always be what you want to change.
You do not necessarily know what the shape of the band is.
Can only turn up or down – less control.
