Matthew 1
The genealogy of Jesus Christ traces His lineage from Abraham to Joseph. An angel tells Joseph in a dream that Mary’s child is conceived by the Holy Spirit and will save His people from their sins.
Matthew 2
Wise men visit baby Jesus, guided by a star, but King Herod plots to kill Him. Joseph flees with Mary and Jesus to Egypt to escape Herod’s massacre of the infants.
Matthew 3
John the Baptist preaches repentance and baptizes in the Jordan River. Jesus comes to John and is baptized, and the Spirit descends upon Him.
Matthew 4
Jesus fasts forty days in the desert and resists the devil’s temptations. He begins His ministry in Galilee, calling His first disciples and preaching repentance.
Matthew 5
Jesus gives the Sermon on the Mount, teaching the Beatitudes and calling His followers to be salt and light. He deepens the law’s meaning on anger, adultery, divorce, oaths, and loving enemies.

Jesus sends out the twelve apostles with authority to heal and preach. He warns them of persecutions but assures them of God’s care.

John the Baptist sends messengers to ask about Jesus’ identity. Jesus praises John, rebukes unrepentant towns, and invites the weary to find rest in Him.
Matthew 12
Jesus defends His disciples picking grain on the Sabbath and heals a man’s withered hand. The Pharisees plot against Him as He teaches about good and evil and true family.
Matthew 13
Jesus tells parables about the sower, weeds among wheat, mustard seed, yeast, treasure, and a pearl of great price. He explains why He speaks in parables and is rejected in His hometown.
Matthew 14
Herod executes John the Baptist. Jesus feeds five thousand with five loaves and two fish and walks on water to reach His disciples.
Matthew 15
Jesus teaches that what defiles comes from the heart, not unwashed hands. He heals a Canaanite woman’s daughter and feeds four thousand.
Matthew 16
Pharisees and Sadducees demand a sign, but Jesus warns His disciples about their teaching. Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus predicts His death and resurrection.
Matthew 17
Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James, and John. He heals a boy possessed by a demon and again foretells His death and resurrection.
Matthew 18
Jesus teaches about greatness, avoiding sin, and seeking the lost sheep. He explains how to handle conflicts and the necessity of forgiving others.
Matthew 19
Jesus teaches about marriage, divorce, and celibacy for the kingdom. He blesses children and tells a rich young man to give up possessions to follow Him.

Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard, showing God’s generosity. He again predicts His death, teaches about true greatness, and heals two blind men.

Jesus heals a paralytic lowered through the roof and calls Levi the tax collector. He answers questions about fasting and explains His authority over the Sabbath.
Mark 3
Jesus heals on the Sabbath, and large crowds follow Him. He appoints the twelve apostles and refutes claims that He drives out demons by the power of Satan.
Mark 4
Jesus teaches crowds in parables, including the sower and the mustard seed. He calms a storm on the sea, showing His power over nature.
Mark 5
Jesus drives demons from a possessed man into a herd of swine. He heals a woman with a hemorrhage and raises Jairus’s daughter from the dead.
Mark 6

Luke 1

Luke 2
Jesus is born in Bethlehem and visited by shepherds who glorify God. At the temple, Simeon and Anna bless the child, and twelve-year-old Jesus stays behind in the temple discussing with teachers.
Luke 3
John the Baptist preaches repentance and baptizes crowds in the Jordan River. Jesus is baptized and His genealogy is traced back to Adam, the son of God.
Luke 4
Jesus fasts in the desert and overcomes the devil’s temptations. He teaches in Nazareth but is rejected, then performs healings and exorcisms in Galilee.
Luke 5
Jesus calls His first disciples after a miraculous catch of fish and heals a leper and a paralytic. He eats with tax collectors, teaching about repentance and new ways over old customs.
Luke 6

Luke 12
Jesus teaches about trusting God, avoiding greed, and being watchful for His return. He warns about divisions His mission will bring and the need for repentance.
Luke 13
Jesus calls people to repent and tells the parable of the barren fig tree. He heals a crippled woman on the Sabbath and describes the narrow door to salvation.
Luke 14
Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath and teaches about humility and hospitality. He tells the parable of the great feast and explains the cost of discipleship.
Luke 15
Jesus tells the parables of the lost sheep, lost coin, and the prodigal son. He shows God’s joy in welcoming repentant sinners back home.
Luke 16
Jesus tells the parable of the dishonest steward and warns about serving wealth over God. He teaches about the rich man and Lazarus, showing the consequences of ignoring the poor.
Luke 17
Jesus teaches about forgiveness and faith, heals ten lepers (but only one returns to thank Him). He speaks about the coming of the kingdom and the suddenness of His return.
Luke 18
Jesus tells the parables of the persistent widow and the Pharisee and the tax collector. He blesses children, challenges a rich ruler, predicts His passion, and heals a blind beggar.
Luke 19
Zacchaeus the tax collector welcomes Jesus and repents. Jesus tells the parable of the ten coins, enters Jerusalem triumphantly, and weeps over the city’s fate.
Luke 20
Religious leaders question Jesus’ authority, but He confounds them with questions and parables. He debates paying taxes to Caesar and teaches about the resurrection.
Luke 21
Jesus praises a poor widow’s offering and foretells the destruction of the temple. He describes signs of the end and urges His followers to stay alert.
Luke 22
Judas plots to betray Jesus, who shares the Last Supper with His disciples. Jesus prays on the Mount of Olives, is arrested, denied by Peter, and mocked by the council.

John 1
The Word was with God and became flesh in Jesus Christ, who is introduced by John the Baptist. Jesus calls His first disciples, who recognize Him as the Messiah.
John 2
Jesus turns water into wine at the wedding in Cana, His first sign. He drives out the money changers from the temple, showing zeal for His Father’s house.
John 3
Jesus tells Nicodemus about being born from above and explains God’s love in giving His only Son. John the Baptist testifies again that Jesus must increase while he must decrease.
John 4
Jesus talks with a Samaritan woman at the well, revealing He is the Messiah. He heals an official’s son by the power of His word.
John 5
Jesus heals a man at the pool on the Sabbath, which angers the Jewish leaders. He explains His authority comes from the Father and that He gives life and judgment.
John 6
Jesus feeds five thousand and walks on water. He teaches about the bread of life, saying whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood will have eternal life.
John 7
Jesus goes secretly to the Feast of Tabernacles and teaches openly in the temple. There is division among the people about who He is, and the leaders try to arrest Him.
John 8
Jesus forgives a woman caught in adultery and teaches about being the light of the world. He debates with the Pharisees and declares, “Before Abraham came to be, I AM.”
John 9
Jesus heals a man born blind, causing controversy among the Pharisees. The healed man testifies to Jesus’ power, and Jesus teaches about spiritual blindness.
John 10
Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. Many accuse Him of blasphemy, but some believe because of His works.
John 11
Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, showing He is the resurrection and the life. The chief priests and Pharisees plot to kill Him because many believe in Him.
John 12
Mary anoints Jesus at Bethany and Judas objects. Jesus enters Jerusalem triumphantly, predicts His death, and calls people to walk in His light.
John 13
At the Last Supper, Jesus washes His disciples’ feet as an example of humble service. He predicts Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denial.
John 14
Jesus comforts His disciples, promising them a place in the Father’s house. He says He is the way, the truth, and the life, and promises the Holy Spirit.
John 15
Jesus calls Himself the true vine and His disciples the branches, urging them to remain in His love. He commands them to love one another and warns of the world’s hatred.
John 16
Jesus explains the coming of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will guide them into truth. He speaks of His coming departure and assures them of peace despite tribulation.
John 17
Jesus prays to the Father, asking for His glory to be revealed and for His disciples to be protected and united. He also prays for all future believers to be one.
John 18
Jesus is betrayed and arrested in the garden, tried before the high priest, and Peter denies Him three times. He is brought before Pilate, who questions Him about being King of the Jews.
John 19
Jesus is scourged, mocked, crucified, and dies on the cross. He is buried in a nearby tomb by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.
John 20
Mary Magdalene finds the empty tomb, and Jesus appears to her and to His disciples. He breathes the Holy Spirit on them and appears again to Thomas, who declares, “My Lord and my God!”
John 21
Jesus appears to His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, helping them catch fish and sharing breakfast. He reinstates Peter, telling him to feed His sheep, and hints at Peter’s future martyrdom.
