Non-profit org that is limited to employees of the government who enforce pet food

Does not regulate, inspect, or enforce laws

Who regulates pet food labels?

State-based registartion, FDA, USDA, and the FTC

What does the USDA do for food?

Oversees meat and poultry and organic certifications

What does the FTC do?

Reviews advertising and marketing claims

What is on each label for pet food?

Brand name, quantity, product name, species name

What does 100% beef mean?

Must be 100% of that meat excluding water for processing

What does a flavor mean?

Must be recognizable by the owner in the ingredient list and there is no required percentage of the ingredient
