Titration
The determination of the concentration of sodium hydroxide by titration with a standardized 0.10 mol/L HCl solution.
Volumetric Material
Use of volumetric material like a volumetric flask, pipette, pipette pump, and burette
Standardized Solution
A solution with a precisely known concentration, used in performing titrations.
Burette
A piece of lab equipment used to accurately dispense variable amounts of a liquid.
Statief (Stand)
Used to hold the Erlenmeyer flask during titration.
Erlenmeyer Flask
A flask with a wide, flat bottom and a conical body, useful for swirling liquids during titration.
Pipette
A piece of laboratory glassware used to accurately measure a specific volume of liquid.
Phenolphthalein
A chemical indicator that changes color near the equivalence point of an acid-base titration.
Equivalence Point
The point in a titration where the amount of titrant added is chemically equivalent to the amount of analyte in the sample.
Initial Buret Reading
Record the initial buret reading before titration.
Final Buret Reading
Record the final buret reading after titration.
Volume of HCl Added
Calculate the volume of HCl used by subtracting the initial buret reading from the final buret reading
Average Volume
Calculate the average volume of HCl used from multiple titrations
Concentration Calculation
Calculate the concentration of Sodium Hydroxide using the average volume of HCl used
