he worked in the state department and accompanied FDR to the Yalta Peace Conference during WWII. In 1950 Alger Hiss was convicted on charges of perjury (lying under oath).

Who were the Rosenbergs?

They were a married couple and they were implicated in an investigation of weapons files shared with the Soviet’s. The Rosenbergs were convicted of being spies and sentenced to death.

The U.S. was caught off guard when the first soviets launched the first satellite into space. Led to creation of NASA

How did the GI bill impact returning veterans and their families?

The bill provided a year of unemployment payments to veterans who were unable to find work. Those who attended college after the war received financial aid. The act also entitled veterans to government loans for building homes and starting businesses.

Why did Americans migrate to the sun belt in the 1950s?

It was a warm, sunny climate. A booming industrial economy, rapidly growing cities for people and lots of job opportunities. The development of air-conditioning also played a major role.

What were the effects of the federal highway act?

It authorized funds to build 41,000 miles of highway. It safely carried the nation's growing automobile traffic, boosted economic prosperity, and provided a valuable transportation network. The effects were people could drive anywhere in the country, transport weapons quickly and evacuate people if needed to.

How does the Little Rock nine event connect to brown v BOE?

It was where nine African American students attempted to integrate Little Rock high school, but people didn’t let them in although Brown vs Board talked about school equality and disgretting.
