What is an electrolyte?
A compound that dissociates into positive and negative ions when it dissolves in water.
What do free-moving ions do in a solution?
They carry electric current through the solution.
What is a saturated solution?
A solution that has dissolved the maximum amount of solute possible at a specific temperature.
What happens to solute in a saturated solution if you add more?
It won't dissolve and just sinks to the bottom.
Example of a saturated solution?
Adding salt to water until it stops dissolving.
What is an unsaturated solution?
A solution that has not yet reached the maximum solute amount it can hold.
What can you do with an unsaturated solution?
You can still dissolve more solute in it.
Example of an unsaturated solution?
A spoon of sugar in tea that fully dissolves.
