1st trimester screening; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• tests for chromosomal abnormalities

• blood draw

• looks for ranges of HCG & PAPP-A (ranges too high or too low)

• probability

quad screening; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• tests for chromosomal abnormalities and neural tube defects

• tests for 4 things

  • HCG

  • Estriole

  • AFP

  • Inhibin-A

(too high or too low)

Anatomy Ultrasound; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• checks development of the baby as a whole (internal organs, limbs, bones, sex determination, heartbeat)

• is the baby growing

• used to confirm if u are pregnant

• how far along the mother is

neuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• checks for risk of chromosomal abnormalities

• looks at the back of the neck and the nasal bone size (sees if they are out of range)

cell free fetal (CFF) DNA analysis; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• assesses chromosomal abnormalities

• fetal DNA analyzed

• blood draw

amniocentesis; what is it/what does it test for/look at

• DIAGNOSIS of chromosomal abnormalities and neural tube defects

• can figure out fetal blood type and paternity

• risk of miscarriage <1%

• transabdominal needle to the belly to collect amniotic fluid

chorionic villus sampling (CVS)

• DIAGNOSES chromosomal diorders/abnormalities and can identify paternity of the baby

• uses needle to collect (aspirate) chorionic villus cells from placenta

• transabdominally or transvertically
