• place compass near magnet on paper

• mark direction compass points

• move compass to different places in magnetic field, marking needle direction

• join point to show field lines

How can two permanent magnets make a uniform magnetic field?

Place two bar magnets with opposite poles facing each other — this creates a region of straight, evenly spaced lines

What happens when an electric current flows through a conductor?

it produces a magnetic field around conductor
