Operation Inherent Resolve

• Successful in reducing ISIS territory

• The USA have decapitated the leadership of ISIS using bombing campaigns

• On the 10th of January 2026, 20 aircrafts destroyed ISIS sites in Syria

Operation Okra

• Helped to limit ISIS activities because Australian forces contributed airstrikes and training to coalition forces

• Australian aircraft carried out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, supporting local ground troops

Operation Freedom Sentinel

• Partly successful in countering ISIS-K and Taliban remnants

• NATO and US forces trained Afghan forces and conducted targeted strikes

• Despite training efforts, the Taliban captured Kabul in 2021, showing that the long-term goals were not achieved

Operation Boma’s Wrath

• Reduced Boko Haram capabilities because Chadian forces launched a large-scale offensive, killing hundreds of militants

• Boko Haram attacks decreased temporarily in Chad and Nigeria after the 2020 offensive, but the group still stayed active

African Union

• AU military operations against Al-Shabaab have failed

• Al-Shabaab were weakened in urban areas, however they still continue to attack rural areas

Balochistan

• Pakistan’s military operations in Balochistan have reduced some insurgent activity

• Ultimately failed to counter terrorism in the region

• Separatist groups such as the BLA remain active and their attacks increased last year
