Metonymy
A figure of speech in which the name of one object is substituted for that of another closely associated to it.
Synecdoche
A figure of speech in which a part of something is used to represent the whole or the whole is used to represent a part.
Euphemism
A polite expression used to replace words or phrases considered to be harsh or impolite.
Juxtaposition
A literary device wherein the author places a person, concept, place, idea or theme parallel to another.
Anaphora
A syntax technique which repeats a word or phrase at the beginning of a sentence.
Anastrophe
Yoda talk- inverse sentence order used for emphasis.
Antithesis
Parallel grammatical structure used for contrast. (Parallel juxtaposition)
Asyndeton
A syntax technique which uses a list without a conjunction. ("of the people, by the people, for the people shall…")
Chiasmus
Two parallel phrases; one is reversed.
Epiphora/Epistrophe
A syntax technique that repeats a word or phrase at the end of a sentence.
Parataxis
Juxtaposition without a conjunction.
Litotes
An understatement using the negative opposite. ("not ashamed of the gospel")

Identical grammatical structure.

A syntax technique which uses a whole lot of conjunctions.
Syllepsis/Zeugma
A syntax technique which changes the meaning of a word in the middle of a sentence.
