Diffraction
the bending of waves around obstacles and the spreading out of waves beyond openings
will create points of destructive interference (nodes) and constructive interference (antinodes)

Young’s Experiment
Diffraction and interference of light results in an interference pattern that is projected onto a screen.
Bright Fringes/Antinodal Lines = regions of constructive interference
Dark Fringes/Nodal Lines = regions of destructive interference

The Interference Pattern
At the central antinode, both waves travel the same distance from the slits and arrive at the screen in phase.
