Women Working

women went to work in factories to produce what was need for the war effort.
1. built 2/3 of aircrafts
2. 1:4 married women had outside of home jobs
3. Factories provided childcare for women factory workers

Factory Production

produced everything that was needed for the war!
1. gov. agency pushed factories into mass production causing adrenal of weapons
2. No cars constructed
3. Factories were converted to make war materials

Rationing

conservation materials & resources needed for the war effort!
1. food was dehydrated to allow for long shelf life
2. Fat was used to produce bombs
3. Tires were the first item to be rationed

Bracero Program

Mexicans were allowed to cross the boarder to work on American Farms!
1. Mexicans received poor pay & bad living conditions
2. 4 million Mexicans participated in program
3. Mexicans came to America to leave an unstable government

Propaganda

The government used to promote the war & make it a personal mission for every citizen
1. used to demonize the enemy
2. used to promote the sale of war bonds
3. used ot build support for the war & recruit soliderssoldiers

Double V Campaign

compaign to end racism at home & Fascism abroad
1. 1 million black men registered for draft
2. Started from Pittsburg Courier Newspaper
3. 10% of women serving in the military were black

Victory gardens

citizens growing there own gardens for food during the war
1. 20 million americans grew there own gardens
2. Americans supply 40% of all food by 1941
3. Save gov on money for transportation

War Bond Sales

bought to pay for all the war material
1. WWII was last time issued
2. Sports were sued to influence purchase
3. Half the US population bought war bonds

Scrap Metal Drives

government program which materials were recycled to provide resources for war
1. 750,000 tanks were made from scrap
2. Children recycling created 1.5 million tons
3. Toothpaste tubes + gum wrappers were recycled
