Why law school?

I want to go to law school because my background in psychology has shown me just how powerful it is to understand people, whether it be their motivations, their challenges, or what support they need. I’m drawn to the law because it will allow me use that understanding in a more concrete way: To advocate for others, navigate complex problems, and find solutions that genuinely help people. I love analyzing situations, thinking critically, and problem-solving, and I see the law as a field where those strengths can create a real impact.

Why are you interested in this law school?

I would absolutely love to attend Texas A and M University School of Law because of its strong ties to the Dallas-Fort-Worth area, one of the fastest-growing legal markets in the country. When I was researching schools before applying, A and M stood out for its exceptional outcomes for its graduates, including a near-zero underemployment rate and a bar passage rate around 96%, which showed me how well it prepares its students. I’m also inspired by the school’s commitment to service, especially programs like the Innocence Project, which align with my passion for using the law to create meaningful change.

Why apply to law school now?

Now is the right time for law school because I feel prepared, focused, and deeply committed to pursuing this path. I see no reason to postpone chasing my goals when I’m ready to take on the challenge. I’m eager to join the legal community and begin developing the skills necessary to change lives through advocacy, problem-solving, and service. Studying for the LSAT, while admittedly humbling and soul-crushing even, showed me that fully committing myself to something hard is very rewarding, and it made me realize that I genuinely and surprisingly love critical thinking. I’d be very grateful to bring that energy to Texas A&M Law.

Tell me about yourself

I’m currently a senior at UNC Chapel Hill, double-majoring in psychology and political science. I’ve always been driven by a genuine desire to help others- whether that’s academically, through service, or on a more personal level. Next semester, I’ll be an undergraduate learning assistant for a cognitive psychology course. I volunteer by helping foster dogs get the care they need, and I’m often the person friends turn to during mental health challenges. Those experiences have shaped my passion for advocacy and problem-solving, which is what ultimately led me to pursue law.

Tell me about a time you were challenged (with a team or without) and how you overcame it

One challenge I faced on a team was handling composites for my fraternity. After stepping into the role, I realized we were still contractually tied to our previous vendor while already working with a new one due to a leadership transition and poor communication. I took ownership by reviewing both contracts and communicating consistently with both companies until the issue was resolved. That experience taught me the importance of clear communication during transitions and the value of slowing down and addressing conflicts proactively.

Tell me about a time you overcame an obstacle

During my freshman year at UNC, I faced a significant obstacle adjusting to college, which was a much different environment than high school, and it certainly took a toll on my mental health. As a result, my academic performance initially suffered. Recognizing that something needed to change, I sought out support, developed a structured routine, and committed myself to improving my study habits. Over time, my GPA steadily improved, but more importantly, I took great strides to develop resilience, self-awareness, and discipline, all of which continue to shape how I approach challenges today.

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, there’s honestly nothing I’d rather do than play pickleball, although I sometimes forget it’s supposed to be recreational and get a little too competitive, especially with my twin brother. Outside of that, I love spending time with friends, whether that’s watching a show, a movie, or going out for dinner. Having a strong social and study community is really important to me, especially in a demanding environment like law school, and I’m excited to be a part of a place like Texas A&M law that values both collaboration and balance.

What’s a TV show or movie that has inspired you?

One show that’s really shaped how I think is Severance. It stuck with me because it’s not just about work-life balance; it’s about what happens when people stop questioning the systems they’re a part of. It made me more aware of how rules and institutions can affect real people, sometimes in ways we don’t immediately see. that mindset is something I want to bring to law school. Thinking critically, asking why things are done a certain way, and never losing sight of the human side of the law.

Tell us something you’re passionate about outside of the law

Outside of law, I’m very passionate about fitness. Maintaining a consistent routine and working toward growth in the gym has shaped how I approach other areas of my life. One principle I focus on is progressive overload, which means gradually increasing weights or intensity to build strength. I apply that same mindset to my work and personal goals by continuously taking on greater responsibility and improving my skills. That focus on steady, incremental growth has been invaluable to me both personally and professionally.

Where do you see yourself in your legal career five years from now?

In five years, I see myself as a junior associate at a law firm in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, continuing to build a strong foundation as a lawyer. My goal is to be in an environment where I’m challenged, well-trained, and exposed to complex matters that allow me to grow quickly. I want to develop strong technical skills, learn from experienced attorneys, and take on increasing responsibility while building a long-term career in the DFW legal market.
