Why was the SPD party hated? in 1918

The SPD party in the new founded government was hated because of its contribution to the armistice which was seen by many German people at the time as a ‘stab in the back‘. This meant that from the very start many people had already disliked itand blamed it for the country's defeat in WWI, fostering resentment among nationalist and conservative factions.
